The morning of Saturday, October 14th, didn't begin well. I was awaken by the sound of rain pattering against the windows of the Excalibur hotel. Sigh. It was raining, and it was raining hard. I jumped on weather.com and found the prediction was for thunderstorms through most of the day.

Kelly (ArcheryBabe) was dancing at the faire with Oojam, and she picked me up at the Excalibur. After some breakfast, we arrived and found the place muddy and wet. So wet, in fact, that the faire opening was postponed until noon.

I got my wrist strap from Aziz and pants from Marjhani, as well as a shirt from Kelly. Later, I purchased a shirt, vest and belt. My new costume is significantly different than my usual one indeed. It looks pretty good.

Marjhani had what sounded like severe bronchitis, and she left the faire early to get to a hotel room where she could stay warm.

The faire opened at noon and I wandered around. The Las Vegas faire is simply huge, gigantic. I don't know if it's as big as southern in number of boothes and stages, but it is certainly bigger in space. It wraps all the way around a lake on all sides.

I spent a lot of the day wandering around, watching shows, and such.

The rain stopped in the early afternoon and didn't come back in spite of the weather report that a huge thunderstorm was due to strike at 6pm. It sprinkled a bit but nothing serious.

Oojam looked good. Their first show was an impromptu series of dances and they were very good. The had a couple more shows through the day and I was quite impressed. Mercy, Najila (Kelly) and Tamara were outstanding in every show.

Las Vegas faire is unusual in my experience as the faire is open until 10pm. I lasted until slightly after 9pm before deciding it was time to leave, then got a ride to my hotel.

Overall, the day turned out very well. Las Vegas is a very nice faire.

I like the blue shirt much better. It's more flattering to your coloring.

Welcome to the reality of 'doing' faire, and the unexpected!!! I like the blue on you! Do you have a pic of just you in the new attire??

Tell Marjani we said 'hi, hugs and feel better!' She's a doll! Glad all turned out okay, as it can't always be "perfect." But as you know it is always just what we 'make' it! In Michigan we had thunder, lightening and torrential downpours - which is all good and fun in the heat, unless you have wooden rocking horses!! LOL!

We all miss you, my friend!!

I'm sorry that I missed you!

I got 'sent home' on Saturday Morning.. I don't do lightening and thunder well, (HATE IT...) and we had a condo about 3 miles from the park... so I came back to site around 11:30, and was there till 10 p.m. ... my guild - Amblefolke was at the North Entrance, and I mostly played in that area... I heard via the weather channel that Vegas had an inch of rain Saturday morning... it did make for some interesting walking!

      Hi Richard,

I was there, but missed you. By the looks of your new costume, I really missed you. Love the new colors. They look fantastic. I was looking for the Red Shirt. Oh well.

Faire was too much fun. I just got back with Colleen from Southern Court and her husband Keith from archery. We were with a group called Red Stag located across from the Irish and border horse. Slept in a little lean-to canvas tent even during the thunder and lightening storm. Scary yet exciting. I had many people checking up on me during the night. Also I participated in Battle pagent. Hilarious. More later.

During my trip, i was able to see my 2 uncles who don't live too far from Sunset Park. They picked me up and kidnapped me for a few or so hour. Again, faire was amazing, yet I think spending time with my uncles was the highlight of my weekend.

Hope you had a terrific time while you were there. See you soon. xoxo

      I'm suffering from sleep deprivation.

      Richard,

It was awesome having you at this faire. I really like the new look. It was kind of funny that you were incagnito and people didnt recognize you without the red.

Thanks for all that you do! You ROCK my friend.
